The Christmas party over here at CJ Towers wasn't a grand affair, but I was grateful - a pint or two, a meal up in town, and the chance to see all the journos pulling crackers and wearing those stupid paper hats (not pretty). And then we all retired to a nearby hostelry for a couple more drinks.
But it all pales in comparison with Bardsley Construction's Christmas conference. Chairman Wayne Bardsley chartered a 757 jet and flew his entire workforce to Rome and put them up in five-star accommodation to thank them for 12 months' of hard work.
From the look of things (see picture), Bardsley's staff were only too happy to enter into the spirit of the event. No word yet on whether holding a conference in Rome has had any effect on the company philosophy, but if they start crucifying subbies and throwing architects to the lions before running off to conquer the rest of Europe, I'll be sure to let you know.
