Talking of smoking, the Fire Industry Association (FIA) has circulated a warning that all smoking shelters must meet the same fire safety standards as the main building to which they’re attached.
Given their sole purpose is to accommodate smokers you would have thought it might have already occurred to building owners to ensure the shelter doesn’t go up in flames, however welcome the idea of a warm fire might be to the gangs of shivering smokers that huddle in close packs outside pubs and offices.
Anyway, to illustrate its point the FIA has included the image of an attractive young lady enjoying a smoke and a drink (above). You’d think it would be the last organisation to want to glamorise smoking, particularly as the ban must have affected the instances of fire in public buildings, but I was certainly dragged in.
