Manchester framework pool party

Talking of stampedes, an invitation to tender issued by the North West Construction Hub (NWCH) has called for a framework of - wait for it - 99 contractors.

In what could well be the longest OJEU notice in history, NWCH, otherwise known as Manchester City Council, is looking for more of an ocean of contractors than a pool.

In these straightened times, it seems that no-one will be overlooked for the work, which ranges from schools and commercial buildings, to bus stations and park-and-ride schemes.

The list of bodies identified as having access to the framework stretches over four pages, so if you do make it onto the long shortlist expect plenty of opportunities.

But be warned that, at 23 pages long, you'd better start reading the contract notice now if you're going to get your tender in before the beginning of May.
