    Over the next few years, I think we'll look back on the first half of this decade as the 'good ole days'.

    Looking ahead, margins are going to get tighter as work on the ground gets thinner, everyone will try to cut corners to save cash, so safety is going to slide.

    It will be bleak. There will be blood.

    Your doom and gloom forecast isn't exactly helpful.

    Look at the cash being pumped into construction:

    • £15.9 billion on Crossrail
    • £5 billion M25 widening project 
    • £40 billion nuclear energy programme
    • £55 billion BSF programme

    to name a few...

    An overwhelming 'glass-is-half-full' attidtude ultimately becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

    Perhaps when everyone's bored of spouting on about how 'bleak' it all is, we'll stand a better chance of moving onwards and upwards.
