  • Re: Are All These Foreign Workers Really Saving Our Construction Industry?

I fibbed, sorry but I wanted to add one last ditty that I read recently.   Card tricks 1 August 2008 "When I applied for my CSCS technical managers card, I arrived at the test centre 15 minutes before my appointment time along with everybody else. Nobody from Prometric (the body running the test for ConstructionSkills) arrived ...
  • Re: Are All These Foreign Workers Really Saving Our Construction Industry?

Guys and Girls... It's a shame to part company from a forum that I believe, has played a constructive part in allowing us all (and particularly me) to get this frustrating and demoralising downturn situation off our chests by, at the close of play - bickering? What are the options? Get hold of a copy of Robert Tressell's (Robert Noonan ...
  • Re: Are All These Foreign Workers Really Saving Our Construction Industry?

"But I find it insulting to the individual races of people singled out by this kind of post, and insulting to our collective intelligence when the responsibility for the mess that is the construction industry, is continually aimed away from the real culprits." I would agree 100% with the above comment. Make those accountable - ...
  • Re: cscs card

Ok, This is my last 'Rant'  - in looking through this pantomime: "The cost of the **** Card test is £34.50. A **** Card Test including a revision Book costs £49.50. The retest will cost you £30.00" So, taking into consideration that there are in excess of 29,438,000 people employed in Construction in the UK  - ...
  • Re: cscs card

I'm going to start the ball rolling by refusing point blank to be involved with any project or company that insists on that cscs garbage and the other money laundering ripoffs - if they require that nonsense to cover their arses against claims for unsafe practice, they are clearly not worth getting involved with. There are many ways ...
  • Re: cscs card

I tried to contact the CITB Friday last, yesterday and again today, they don't answer and they don't respond to emails - to be perfectly honest, it would have been a much easier job, getting an audience with Pope! CITB - A complete and utter dysfunctional shambles followed and subscribed to by equally dysfunctional lemmings.

  • Re: cscs card

I understood your point Makolic. What I am suggesting is you don't, for the time being at least, need to be relying on this cscs nonsense to work as a Carpenter, only on Construction Sites where they're all controlled clones. I normally work in Social Housing as a Site Inspector / Clerk of Works so, in order to get around the very little ...
  • Re: Project Management

Hi Robidi Appointing a Project Manager', in any undertaking - be it in construction or even to gain a position with Sir Alan Sugar or (God forbid) Mr Trump is designed to illustrate leadership. From my own point of view and having worked for many years as a Contracts Manager, I would be in control of all aspects of the project from ...
  • Re: IOSH who a member and why?

And why do you think that is SteamBoss? Because its not cost effective for them and it doesn't fit in with their aspirations to control us all. I, as noted elsewhere within this forum, continue to champion GE700 (published and distributed by CITB) and disagree that IOSH do not recognise it. One thing I have learnt from our Eastern ...
