  • Re: Safety gloves policy

I was told to put my gloves on the other day on a site. Made it hard to hold the paintbrush.......... H&S gone mad

  • Re: Are faulty ladders a big problem?

I've personally never been a fan of these 'inspection records' and scafftags and the likes. Generally from what i see on site is "inspected on" and "next inspection due" dates which are usually weeks or in some cases a year apart. Ladders, towers and other equipment should be checked by whoever is using it ...

  • Wates cause a mass scare over collapsing Razordeck

As many of you are in charge of H&S on site, you may have received the email about the Razordeck self erecting tower that collapsed with a contractor working on it on a Wates site last week. Click the link below for the outcome after the unit had been inspected by the manufacturer! http://www.razordeck.co.uk/safetyinfo.html

  • Re: General chat area?

  • Re: General chat area?

How about an 'active topics' link so you can see new posts since last login? Saves having to trawl through the seperate forums looking for new posts / threads? May also be worth adding a few more sections (work at height, ppe, tools & equipment etc) otherwise when the site starts to get stupidly busy (which it will!) it'll ...

  • Re: Quick hitches - what solution do you suggest?

If the driver cant put a pin in, then they certainly shouldn't be allowed to drive the friggin thing. Instead of messing around making their job even more idiot proof, why not tell them if they don't do their job right in the first place they can f**k off and stack shelves in tescos?

  • Re: Cherry pickers stuck at height

As per manufacturers instructions i guess. Most (if not all) machines have a safety valve for lowering in the event of a failure

  • Re: Roads or rail - which should get more budget?

Definately rail. I make lots of access equipment for the railways, and nothing for the roads
