My client is the construction arm of a multinational asset management group. With £15b of assets under management worldwide, as well as a hunger for delivering groundbreaking major projects, my client offers an attractive mixture of security and opportunity to potential employees.

My client are currently tendering a £150m mixed-use scheme, which includes a 650-seat concert hall, a 225-seat theatre and a 90-seat studio theatre, as well as additional studios for television, radio, teaching and rehearsals. This scheme, based on the Barbican Estate, will be the most highly-finished and technologically-advanced acoustic centre in the world, and will house one of the world's pre-eminent music schools.

My client is currently seeking a Commissioning Manager for the project. This person will come in now to assist with the bid, and will remain throughout the duration of the project.

Understanding of specialist equipment and experience of building concert halls / theatres / other auditoria is essential. Whatever the other merits of an application, if this experience is not present my client will not consider it. The successful candidate will understand the equipment, in terms of mechanical, audio, lights and stage set up. They will know who the suppliers are, what the equipment costs, how it goes together and in what order etc. They will drive the installation contractors on site and deal with issues relating to programme, as well as any technical problems which may arise. The role will work closely with the novated theatre / auditorium consultants and will involve compiling O&M procedures for the client and their FM / stage crews during the handover process.

Due to the niche nature of the role, my client is prepared to be completely flexible on the rate / salary it will command. It is an urgent requirement and my client will interview as soon as Monday.

In addition my client is seeking a Construction Manager for the same project - somebody who has delivered the structural / architectural / finishes elements of similar buildings for contractors. This role will work closely with the Commissioning Manager to co-ordinate their respective operations, ensuring that logistics considerations are addressed and that the interface between equipment, structure & finishes runs smoothly. The successful candidate will understand that the structural & finishes elements of auditoria & theatres are very different from other constructions.
