A leading provider of enterprise class data storage subsystems and network technology is currently recruiting for a Director of Product Management. Based in Hampshire, salary offered £60-70K + benefits.



This is an exciting opportunity for a proven technical marketing professional to join a successful engineering organisation on the South Coast of the UK. The company is involved with the design, development and manufacture of high technology, high value electronic and electromechanical systems.



The position has been created in order to bring technical engineering / scientific knowledge to an existing marketing team. The successful applicant will be required to lead a small team of product marketing professionals each with a technical background and will also be a key player in the capture of customer requirements and overall product delivery.



The role would therefore suit an engineer with a strong technical background (perhaps design, development or applications engineering, FAE), strong business acumen (proven product marketing achievements) coupled with excellent communication skills, and customer facing / relationship building ability.



As the product marketing manager you will be responsible for the marketing of products with minimal oversight. You will work with business unit managers to define and execute plans to develop a more formal product-oriented business model. You will also provide marketing and product management guidance to management in the areas of competitive threat assessment, business planning, environmental market analysis, and product configuration and pricing.



Skills / Knowledge Required:

- A degree of equivalent in a relevant technical subject (e.g. electronics, physics, mechanical engineering) A Masters or PhD would be desirable

- Strong business acumen and marketing knowledge, perhaps holding an MBA

- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), technical communication skills coupled with strong customer facing ability

- Possess an intimate knowledge of product lifecycle management for high value ($0.5M+) electronics / electro-mechanical systems

- Able to develop strong relationships and used to working closely with a select client base

- Able to capture requirements effectively and take an active role within multi-disciplined project teams in order to deliver a solution

- Proven record of working well and accomplishing goals with people of disparate backgrounds and job functions

- Proven history of adding value through creativity and hard work



Other:

- A design or development background would be useful (perhaps as an electronics or mechanical design engineer) gained within an electronics, aerospace, telecoms, or automated machinery company

- A background as an engineering manager, development manager, project or programme manager gained within a suitable technology company could be useful

- Knowledge of a broad variety of technologies would be useful (e.g. analogue, digital electronics, FPGAs, embedded / PC applications software, 3D mechanical design)



The Director of Product Marketing will be based near Havant in Hampshire, so you will live within commuting distance or be happy to relocate to the area.

The salary offered for the position will be £60-70K (depending on experience) + benefits.
