My Client is one of the largest international, multi-discipline engineering and building consultancies with offices in South Africa and elsewhere. They are now seeking a Health and Safety Manager for their East London office in South Africa. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Nat Diploma: Safety Management or equivalent, BTech: Will be an advantage. Registered as an Approved Inspector with the DOL and Member of South African Institute of Occupation Hygiene. Considerable working experience will be required with OHSAS 18001 or equivalent. You will be expected to develop, implement, maintain, review and continually improve an OH&S Management system, strategies, procedures and policy, Undertake hazard identification and risk assessments. Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge and any developments that affect the Civil Industry including construction regulations with regards to noise, hazardous substances, fire, etc and advise all Divisions within the company. Report, Investigate and implement appropriate corrective measures for all incidents. Conduct Health and Safety audits at all offices and construction sites. Plan preventative and remedial methods to promote health and safety and a safe working environment. Must be fully computer literate (advance level - Word, excel, Power Point) with strong analytical and problem solving skills. Individual with high energy levels, passion and strong communication skills who will be able to use their initiative. All applicants with a South African Visa will be considered, with the understanding that preference will be given to South Africans. Depending on South African permanent residency status, the position can either be permanent or contract. A suitable salary and fringe benefits, commensurate with skills and career history, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
