Mechanical Design Engineer

My client specialises in the design and manufacture of ruggedised encrypted hardware for the defence industry, they currently have a requirement for a Mechanical Design Engineer.

Successful candidates MUST be eligible for SC level security clearance to work on UK Government projects.

Scope/Purpose of the Job

The purpose of this role is to:

-Design mechanical solutions for a variety of Product lines. Support of existing projects and new product development objectives.
-Produce mechanical designs and documentation in SolidWorks.
-Ensure works aligns with corporate development standards and quality processes.
-In addition, from time to time, you may be asked to undertake other tasks and responsibilities not covered above in order to achieve project or corporate objectives.

Main Responsibilities

-Producing designs and associated BOM and Drawings for Electro mechanical assemblies.
-Provide key information for all mechanical aspects of the project's status to the Management Team.
-Reliable and hardworking
-Flexible work ethic

Skills/Knowledge/Areas of Expertise:

-Qualified to HNC/HND/Degree
-A Good working knowledge of SolidWorks is required.
-Electro mechanical assemblies.
-Defining PCB outlines and selecting electromechanical components - liaising with electronics engineers
-Mechanical design, e.g. product design and verification.
-Mechanical manufacturing processes - DFM.
-Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machining, die-cast and injection moulding.
-Knowledge of tolerance, finishing in harsh environments, materials, IP Ratings etc.
-Configuration and change management.
-Work with all departments to ensure the projects get to market on schedule.
