Mechanical Engineer, Water, Aberdeen

Working within the Plant and Process Section of the Water Utilities Division, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, this position would suit an experienced mechanical engineer with considerable experience in the water industry.

As a mechanical engineer, the main duties and responsibilities will be to contribute to the management and design of water and waste water schemes located both in the UK and overseas. This will include working in multi-disciplinary teams of civil, mechanical, process and electrical/C&I engineers.

The candidate will:

- be able to interact positively with senior and junior staff alike and within the client environment.
- have a good multidisciplinary knowledge of their field and be able to positively advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts mechanical engineering issues.
- take on project management duties and be involved in the financial and commercial management and planning of projects.
- be progressive and imaginative in their work and strive to add value where possible for the benefit of the company and the clients.
- where necessary, supervise the work of more junior engineers and provide technical and professional guidance to assist their development.

Typical duties would comprise preparation or supervision of preparation of drawings for plant general arrangements and P&IDs and managing the production of documentation such as feasibility reports, calculations, specifications, plant schedules, tenders, schedule of prices, engineer's estimates and factory and site acceptance documents.

The Candidate should be prepared to spend period working away from base either in client offices, on project sites in the UK or overseas.
