Microbiology Technician (12month fixed term)

My client is the central laboratory facility for one of the UK's largest food companies. Testing a variety of samples from across the country, the ideal candidate will have degree in Microbiology or Food Science and some food industry experience.

JOB PURPOSE
*Aseptic Preparation of samples for Microbiological analysis
*Initial dilution of samples
*Pipetting of diluted samples
*Entering sample information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
*Preparation and sterilization of sampling and other associated equipment
*Preparation of media as required
*Carry out Aw and pH measurement of samples as required
*Packing and dispatch of test kits
*Assistance in plate drying activities as required
*General laboratory housekeeping
*Daily equipment checks and calibrations

*Numeracy and Literacy

*Should be able to work in a logical manner and be able to work well under pressure

Desirable
*Biology or related GCSE or A levels
*Bench practices within an accredited quality control system
*Knowledge and experience of microbiological testing methodologies
*Aseptic technique
*IT Literate
*LIMS Literate
*Knowledge of food safety and food manufacture
