Job Description

The role is within a multi-task project environment with responsibility for all aspects of the design of electrical distribution systems for renewable energy projects from concept through to full design and management of installation and commissioning.

The role will require liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors to resolve potential problems to ensure that completion dates are achieved.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide technical guidance to other designers and coaching for less experienced engineers.



Person Specification

The candidate will be chartered electrical engineer (MIET).
The candidate will have substantial experience in the design of electrical power distribution (33 - 132kV) and design of sub-stations to NGET Standards including protection systems. It is essential that the candidate can demonstrate at least an awareness of Grid Code Compliance.

It is also desirable that the candidate has experience in one or more of the following:
• HVDC Converter systems
• Subsea cable specification and installation methodology
• Calculation of energy losses within the distribution system.

The ideal candidate is likely to have been employed by a power utility or with a consulting practice with an internationally recognised HV power capability and preferably have experience in the wind farm market, either onshore or offshore.



Preference is for candidates with client side experience or project management responsibility where he/she has had responsibility for the management of external suppliers.


Safety Considerations: experience in implementation of CDM is required
