Our client a leading civil engineering contractor provides in-house design support to sister construction companies. There principal role is to add value to the Group by provision of cost effective and buildable designs.
Our client has secured design-and-construct contracts at the Olympic Park in
East Londonand with Docklands Light Railway, among others. They are providing the design of permanent civil structures on these contracts, which include, for example, a new below-ground station, a jacked under-bridge structure below the existing A12 dual carriageway, and new over-bridge structures.
They are also currently engaged on Crossrail and Tottenham Court Road LUL Station and will be providing design services on forthcoming design-and-construct bids.
They have an immediate need for an experienced civil/structural design engineer with a strong background and experience in design of civil structures / bridges. He/she will be responsible for leading design projects, both technically and commercially. Initially this is most likely to be on the Olympic Park projects. The right candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills and be proficient at developing client relationships. It is envisaged that this person will be chartered, will be very strong technically and will have experience of leading graduate engineers/technicians. It is emphasised that this is a design appointment and we seek a person who can take the technical lead in developing and delivering designs of civil structures. Ideally, the right candidate will also be able to demonstrate knowledge of construction methods and developing cost effective designs.
