Project/Mechanical Design Engineer

This is a more senior role where design responsibility rests with the project engineer.



The design of automotive products by the use of 3D CAD tools such as Pro-E or similar

To create the necessary 2D drawings by CAD either independently or from the 3D models.

To be the lead mechanical engineer creating concepts for product design.

To lead in technical meetings with the customers presenting the concepts and resolving technical queries.

Have experience of material properties and their application in electromechanical designs.

To document the project in the engineering project files.

Experience with root cause analysis, problem solving techniques, FEA and DFMEA.

To contribute within cross functional teams in the development of documentation according to company procedures and guidelines.

To travel as required by the project within the UK and if necessary overseas.

The release of drawings in accordance to the document control procedures.

The generation and analysis of tolerance stacks.

Be able to design for manufacture and lead design reviews with internal and external suppliers

To support in the specification and selection of bought in components and subassemblies.

To support in the selection of suppliers and toolmakers

To work with other offshore engineering team, coordinating their activities to meet project targets.

Collaborative and able to optimize different agendas, this person will have excellent motivational, communication and presentation skills.

The chosen applicant has to be a natural leader and team player with the stature, drive and persuasive skills to secure a cohesive approach to Customer Support
