The Project
Digby Morris' client have been awarded a turnkey contract to design, construct and commission a 12mld WTP with associated transmission and distribution mains to augment the existing water treatment facilities at Negombo, a town 30km north of Colombo the capital of Sri Lanka.
The overall objective of the project is to return a 24-hour service availability to 100% of the population within the service area, based on population projections through to 2025. 
The new plant will supplement the exiting facilities which were built in two phases over the last 30 years and will increase the existing production facility by 50% from 24 mld to 36 mld.
Job Dimensions:
Timely project completion, quality control, local staff and health and safety.
Scope of Authority and Discretion:
Senior supervisor responsible for the delivery of the mechanical works to specification and on time.
Principle Duties:
- Review of all equipment and materials to establish completeness of supply.
- Preparing method statements where necessary for installation.
- Ensuring installations are carried out in accordance with design and specifications.
- Maintain good working relationships with Client/Consultant.
- Effective management of Sub-Contractors
- Monitoring progress against programme.

You will be responsible within the Minor Works and Contracts section for managing and monitoring the M &amp; E statutory and cyclical maintenance service contracts, Health and Safety risk and the supervision of building services maintenance of housing and corporate stock. You must have experience in a role of a similar nature.

Our clients are seeking an experienced claims consultant with a cross section of construction contract knowledge, if you have overseas contract knowledge then this would be an advantage. On a day-to-day basis you will be required to draft and negotiate with Sub-Contractors and Main Contractors, work closely with Spanish Solicitors and to manage all day-to-day construction disputes.
The ideal candidate will have an engineering or Quantity Surveying background with experience of working in Claims and Dispute Resolution. Basic Spanish conversational skills would be an advantage but is not essential as all contracts will be in English.
The successful candidate will have all accommodation costs, air Fares and food paid for; there is a rotational policy that would allow paid for travel home every 11 weeks for a 2-3 week break.
