Our client requires 2 - 4 electricians who originate from the construction industry and are familiar with electrical works associated with building services.
The works are the rectification of the scheduled defects, and the replacement of obsolete/defective distribution boards.
Many defects are of a simple nature but some will require considerable work to rectify.
The installation methods within the facilities are varied, ranging from steel (and pvc) trunking and conduit, twin and earth, MICC, FP200, steel wire armoured, etc.
Distribution Board replacement
Many of the existing distribution boards are obsolete and in poor condition, some are identified as items in the inspection reports.
Some of the boards also offer little or no spare way capacity and as a result the existing circuits have been extended beyond their initial design parameters.
The works involve the replacement of the existing boards for Merlin Gerin products, and at the same time providing additional spare way capacity (where necessary) and the reduction of the number of boards where possible by consolidation into a lesser number of boards.
Role Requirements
A degree of working without supervision will be required of successful candidates, therefore initiative and problem solving is required when necessary.
All operatives will be nominated as ‘skilled persons’ thereby reducing the attendance of the Authorised Electrical Person (AEP), and should therefore be competent to undertake such responsibilities.
An adherence to and a proactive approach to method statements, risk assessments, safe methods of work, isolations, etc are a pre-requisite.
Qualifications & Experience
• The successful candidate should posses a sound knowledge of electrical installation work both technical and practical, as the role is predominantly hands on.
• They should be familiar with all types of installation methods and mediums.
• They should hold the relevant industry standard qualifications (16th and/or 17th Edition or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate familiarity with the types of work to be undertaken.
• Knowledge of electrical testing and inspection (2391 certification) is desirable but not essential; however familiarity with testing is essential.
• Due to the nature of the works, the implementation, control, monitoring and compliance to Health and Safety is paramount, therefore candidates should be familiar with both general and specific construction health and safety, holding necessary ‘safety passport’.
